Unilag’s 55,000 students have been having a major headache trying to take online classes as directed by the school authorities.
Indications are that the school’s central server crashed. One student said she had been trying to come online since midnight to no avail.
So can someone ask the University of Lagos what the razzmatazz was all about when the students cannot access the school server?
For weeks, the foremost institution of learning announced resumption date for today, January 25, 2021, after over nine months of a nationwide strike by university teachers, a strike influenced by both the corona virus and the ASUU dispute with the Federal Government.
However, anxious students were told classes would commence online today.
Chats across several platforms and groups show that Unilag’s much vaunted online and internet classes ended up being a disappointing and anti-climatic no-show.
The school’s records shows that it has about 55,000 students.
For many of these students, the strike continues.
“They are not ready for online classes. They should just let us return to campus and take our lectures as usual,” one disappointed student grumbled.
