On a Table talk today, January Tuesday 12th, 2021 having the presense of management of the University, the Vice chancellor, Student Union Government President and the sub-dean of student affairs.
The Vice Chancellor formally stated the position of the school, confirming whether or not the University is ready for physical resumption.
In his words, the Vice Chancellor made a reference to the December 23rd memo of the National Universities Commission instructing staffs to stay at home for a period of five weeks which is supposedly to end January 28th, of which already implied that January 18th resumption was not feasible.
And if that was to be the case, the management has said it will not be risking the lives of students, resumption would have been in phases.
Furthermore, with reference to the new announcement from yesterday during the Presidential Task Force briefing on the announcement made that January 18th resumption will not be possible at the moment due to increased rate of infections among youths, the management of the University said it will he waiting for an official Memo from the National University Commission on this note before it will take any position on when Physical resumption is expected.
In addition, the Vc. Advised students to mainly be concerned with the Virtual classes that have been arranged for now.
“Indigene students and those who do not have Android phones will be allowed into the campus to download lectures notes from virtual classes, stating that the note will only be available for 72 hours; further stating the Vc. Said about 39 spots have been structured within the campus.
Whereas other students are to follow the instructions given by the management in accessing the lecture notes.
The student Union president confirmed that this is the only way the University can handle the current situation in the society and curb the 2nd outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic.
The management ensured that during the next few days it will be improving its virtual classes facility, reassuring students the newly released Academic CALENDER will not be re-adjusted.
